About The Game & Expansions:

In the Gloom card game, you assume control of the fate of an eccentric family of misfits and misanthropes. The goal of the game is sad, but simple: you want your characters to suffer the greatest tragedies possible before passing on to the well-deserved respite of death. You'll play horrible mishaps like Pursued by Poodles on your own characters to lower their Self-Worth scores, while trying to cheer your opponents' characters with marriages and other happy occasions that pile on positive points. The player with the lowest total Family Value wins.

The game is printed on recycled transparent plastic cards, as you play a new card on a character the transparent layering will change the score and self-worth of the character. 

In The Gloom Chronicles each card starts a new chapter for your ongoing game of Gloom, and ties those games together like multiple episodes of a TV show. It also adds variant rules bringing new challenges to the story. Your story begins with the Unhappy Birthday … but will your next game of Gloom involve a Tragic Train Ride, or will you end up at the infamous World’s Unfair?
